Her Indoors suggested we go to the Blenheim Palace Food Festival yesterday. Living right around the corner from one of the worlds great homes has its benefits, so we jumped in the car and headed over. We have a new Duke, the 12th Duke as it happens. He was a bit of a wild man as a youngster, but has stepped into the role after his Father died with a real vitality, and as a result, he is bringing new types of experiences to the Palace grounds. His Father wouldn’t allow Hamburgers to be cooked in Blenheim when he as alive, but that has changed.
We are also going to experience the first Blenheim popular music concert (there may still be available tickets, follow the link to find out) this summer as we are seeing Van Morrison. I will give you my thoughts on that when it happens in June!
So this month, we had the first Blenheim Food Festival. Her Indoors and I expected it to be all types of fresh food. We were wrong; it was primarily places to buy prepared meals, everything from cupcakes to BBQ. Personally I would have liked to of seen an organic butcher or veg seller. Maybe next year? It was their first, and I would expect it will only get better. If you are in the UK, you must stop by and see the birth place of Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace. He is half American, his Mom was a Yank. It is a day trip out of London, and you can easily combine it with a visit to Oxford just down the road.
I have included a gallery of photos from our day.
Thanks for stopping by – see you again soon
